Do I have to connect my NEEM-2 unit to the Internet
- Do I have to connect my NEEM-2 unit to the Internet or can I just use it on the local area network in our facility?
- You do NOT have to connect the NEEM-2 to the Internet but you will not be able to utilize all of the features included in the NEEM2.
- Specifically, you will not receive email or text alert messages when a sensor measurement is recorded outside of it’s normal operating range.
- In addition, you will not receive our weekly summary reports for each of your active sensors. These reports analyze each connected sensor’s measurements during the prior week and provides an “at a glance” graph of the entire previous week’s measurements. In addition, some analysis of the data is included such as average measured value, standard deviation for the prior week’s measurements and other useful statistics on your measured sensor data.
- And of course, if you do not send your data to the Sensor Synergy Cloud Server on the Internet, you and others in your organization will only be able to view your sensor measurements data from any Internet connected browser. You will only be able to view your measurement data when you are connected to your facility’s local area network.
Can I connect my NEEM-2 unit with an Ethernet cable or to a wireless
- Can I connect my NEEM-2 unit with an Ethernet cable or to a wireless in-house network at our facility?
- Although the NEEM-2 can be used without a connection to the Internet, this unit must be at least connected to a local area network in your facility using either the included USB connected wireless adapter or with a wired Ethernet connection.
- You can connect to your facility’s Wi-Fi network as long as it is IEEE 802.11x compliant (most “wireless” networks are compliant with this family of standards) and you use the included USB Wireless adapter module/antenna. connection or a wired Ethernet connection.
- Due to differences in the software drivers for different wireless USB adapters, we can only guarantee wireless connectivity when the included wireless adapter is used. The supplied USB wireless module/antenna includes an integrated black antenna.
- If you decide to make a wireless connection to the NEEM-2 unit and your facility has a wireless network that you are allowed to connect to, then you should connect the USB connector on the antenna to the USB socket on the front panel of the NEEM-2 unit.
- The wired Ethernet connection can be made with a standard UTP network cable rated at Cat 5 or Cat 6 with an RJ-45 connector at the end of the cable that will be connected to the NEEM-2 unit. This Rj-45 connector should snap (click) into the NEEM-2 unit when the connector is inserted into the back of the NEEM at the opening labeled “Ethernet”.
Can I use two network interfaces at the same time?
- Can I use two network interfaces at the same time? That is, can I connect to both the wired ethernet and the Wi-Fi wireless interface at the same time?
- Yes, but this would be a special case. The wired ethernet interface is designed to allow you to customize the setup the NEEM-2 unit with information you provide that is special for your facility. The wired ethernet connection can also be used to transmit data to the Sensor Synergy Cloud server. A connection to the Internet is optional. But, as discussed earlier, if you do not send your data to our Internet server, you will not be able to utilize several important features of the NEEM-2 solution.
- We estimate that you will probably use the setup program only a few times during the life of the product.
How will the network connections on the NEEM-2 unit be used?
- How will the network connections on the NEEM-2 unit be used?
- Most of the time the network interface will be used to transfer data to the Sensor Synergy Cloud server or to deliver “data viewing” web pages displaying current and prior sensor data.
- The wired interface must be used to setup/customize the NEEM-2 hardware for your facility. During the setup process you will be able to select what type of network connection you want to use – wireless Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet.
- The wired Ethernet interface allows you to see your data and also allows you to setup specific details about your NEEM-2 measurement system. Using the “System Options tab” in the upper left corner of the sensor data viewing window, you can access the drop-down menu and select ”Setup-Modify Project Settings”.
What features can I customize for my facility?
- What features can I customize for my facility?
- You will be able to attach a name to each sensor. You will be able to set and/or modify the calibration factors for each sensor. You will be able to setup the overall name of your system as well as enable co-workers to log into this system to view the data. You will also be able to setup Alarm conditions and identify which of your associates should receive an alert message.
- And you will be able to select which connection you will use to transmit data from the NEEM-2 box to the LAN and/or to the Sensor Synergy cloud computer. If you decide to use the wireless network, you will be able to select which Wi-Fi wireless network you wish to connect to and supply an appropriate password for your Wi-Fi network.
How do I view my sensor measurements?
- You can find these data viewing web pages at the URL https://sensor-info.com or the address assigned to the NEEM-2 unit by your local area network. The default wired ethernet address is 192.168.5.50. Once connected the web page will request that you log in to the data viewing web page with a valid username and password.
- Typically, data viewing web pages will be requested by you or one of your co-workers that you have authorized to view the data. Once an authorized user logs in to the web page with the appropriate username and password, data viewing web pages are delivered to any standard browser that connects to the NEEM-2 unit.
How do I add a co-worker to be an authorized user?
- How do I add a co-worker to be an authorized user so they can see the sensor measurements data?
- As the primary user of this product you will have received a username and password to enable you to log in with special privileges.
- Use these credentials to log in to your NEEM-2 unit and select the “System Options Tab” in the upper left corner of the sensor data viewing window.
- Under the “System Options” drop down menu select ”Setup-Modify Project Settings”.
- You will have to log in again to access the Setup/Modify screen using your special username and password provided to you when you purchased the unit.
- Once you see the screen titled “Sensor Synergy Setup & Configuration Utility” select the “Users” tab. In the “Users” screen, click on the “Add a User” button and follow the directions on the screen. You will be asked to add a “User Name”, a Password, the new user’s email address for alert email messages, and the user’s cell phone number for alert text messages.
- Finally, click the “Save User” button to register your new user as an authorized user to view data and receive messages.
In total, how many measurements can I make per minute across all of my connected sensors.
In general, the NEEM-2 will make about 100 measurements a minute. Under certain situations it can make 120 measurements per minute depending on the type of sensors we are measuring. The “composite sensors” that are calculated values based on other connected sensors may consume more computing resources and limit how many other sensor measurements can be made per minute. Some composite sensors require relatively simple calcuations – like converting Celsius to Fahrenheit – and do not contribute to the computing load on the on-board computer inside the NEEM-2 “Blue Box” . However, there are other composite sensors that load down the on-board computer and limit the number of measurements per minute to 100. An example of this would be a composite AC power sensor which combines measurements from 3 current sensor “clamps” to determine a single power measurment.
